Ben Turin has led a distinguished career in the fields of law and business. Prior to attending law school, Ben worked as a private school teacher and real estate entrepreneur. After graduating from the University of Houston Law Center in 2000, Ben worked as an associate at the law firms of Vinson & Elkins, Ellenoff Grossman and Windels Marx, where he specialized in commercial and financial transactions, M&A, Private Equity & Securities work. In 2006, Ben left the law-firm world and went in-house to become General Counsel of one of his clients, Econnergy Energy. Following the sale of Econnergy in 2007, Ben went to work for the AmTrust group of companies where he served in a number of roles, including as General Counsel – US Operations of AmTrust Financial Services [NASDAQ:AFSI], as Director of AmTrust International Insurance Management, and as Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel of Maiden Holdings, Maiden Insurance and Maiden Holdings NA [NASDAQ:MHLD]. Since leaving the AmTrust group of companies in 2009, Ben has served as VP of Operations of Arosa Solar, as General Counsel of SHMsoft, and currently as General Counsel of Kars 4 Kids, a national 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization.
Ben's first experience with mediation was in 1998 when he was named a defendant in a real estate lawsuit, which was resolved by mediation. Since then he has participated in many mediations, as a principal, an advocate, and as a mediator. Ben brings to the mediation process his deep background in law and business, and his unique ability to facilitate resolution of interpersonal conflicts.
